Requirements for Admission
Master’s Programs HGST admits qualified students without regard to race, color, ethnic or national origin, gender, or physical handicap. Persons who hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or its educational equivalent, can be admitted into the following degree programs: Master of Divinity An applicant for the Master’s programs must: • Have a Minimum GPA from an accredited undergraduate institution of 2.5 for the MDiv and MAC, and 3.0 for the MTS. b. a narrative of your Christian life and service c. your reasons for pursuing or continuing theological education, including your vision and call to ministry and why you believe you will benefit from seminary studies d. six of your basic theological beliefs • Schedule a personal interview • Complete the TOEFL examination with a minimum Score of 550 (written), 213 (computer-based test), or 79 (Internet-based test), for those whose first language is other than English. Doctor of Ministry An applicant for the Doctor of Ministry program must: • Submit a completed application form and fee • Have earned a Master of Divinity Degree or its educational equivalent, with a minimum 3.0 GPA • Have at least three years of experience in ministry after earning the first graduate theological degree • Be currently involved in ministry that will be related to the functional major and the final document • Submit three reference forms, one each from a denominational supervisor, past professor, and current colleague in ministry • Submit Church Endorsement Form or Commanding Officer Endorsement Letter (for military chaplains only) • Have official transcripts of all college and university work sent directly to HGST from each college or university previously attended • Submit a five page essay in English (double-spaced) in Microsoft Word, in academic style which includes: • Schedule an interview with the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program • Complete the TOEFL examination with a minimum Score of 550 (written), 213 (computer-based test), or 79 (Internet-based test), for those seeking entrance into the English track whose first language is other than English. |
