Easy Steps Welcome HGST’s Financial Aid! Our goal is to help make your dream of a graduate degree come true by making it financially possible.
In response to the legislative financial aid reform passed by congress in the spring of 2010, HGST will begin offering financial aid through the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program, subsidized and unsubsidized loans, at the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic year. The 2 kinds of Direct Loans offered at the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic year are: Subsidized loans (need-based aid) and Unsubsidized loans (non-need based). Need is determined by the federal government through the FAFSA process.
• Graduate Students are eligible for up to $20,500.00 in Stafford Loans per year of which $8500.00 may be subsidized. The Cost of Attendance (See Cost of Attendance) determines your eligibility for a particular enrollment period or status. • Students must maintain eligibility to continue receiving Stafford loans (See Eligibility). Both Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans must be repaid. First Step:
• Apply for financial aid online by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the academic year you wish to receive aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov . Our Title IV school code is G23202. • When your FAFSA has been processed you will receive a SAR (Student Aid Report) via email. Review your report for any issues that must be resolved. Corrections can be made online using your pin or by calling 1-800-433-3243. • Please notify the Financial Aid Office via email or by phone once your FAFSA has been submitted to schedule an appointment to begin completing the required paperwork and fulfill federal requirements (See Loan Counseling). • Read the Financial Aid Handbook. Second Step:
• Complete E-MPN (electronic Master Promissory Note) by visiting www.StudentLoans.gov .
• On the home page, Sign In using your FAFSA PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN, click on the PIN site link under the Sign In box. • You will need your social security number, your birth date, driver’s license, and two personal references (full name, address, and phone number).
